Open for Entertainment

This home was essentially constructed with an open plan that was ahead of its time. Although walking into it was bright and open, the decor was dated and needed replacement.

Removing a few free-standing walls, originally placed for room separation, and reconfiguring the kitchen space with new features and updated decor made the home look and feel new again.

Much of the kitchen's functional space exists within a pair of islands that were introduced into the space, allowing ample room for entertaining. The islands house plenty of storage, space for a microwave, a sink and dishwasher, and seating for casual dining. One island is stained gray to match the perimeter cabinets, the other is painted white as a counterbalance to the rest of the kitchen.

The perimeter contains a hidden pantry, the cooking zone, and cabinetry that wraps into a beverage serving space. Throughout the kitchen, new storage and convenience features were included to make the kitchen experience more efficient and enjoyable.

Where the kitchen opens into the living room, we added a stained fireplace mantel and floating shelves. The surface of the fireplace surround was updated with tile, visually connecting the space with the kitchen.

A guest bath in the lower level was also remodeled with a painted furniture vanity and updated decor to match.
